[abdx.org] Glenn Hauser logs May 20-21, 2022

** BRAZIL. 11815.044V, May 20 at 0634, JBA carrier wavering and hard to pinpoint. Presumed R. Brasil Central.
11815.040V, May 21 at 0043, S5/S9 music, RBC remains plus but varying slightly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11880, May 20 at 2309, RHC is S6/S8 but JBM, in English? as scheduled to Africa. Should be // 5040 but that`s JBA carrier in HNL
11950, Fri May 20 at 2309, RHC in Spanish is S8/S9+25 and even modulating. Is this the alternate Mesa Redonda TV soundtrack? Schedules show it not on Fridays
15730, May 20 at 2310, RHC S9+10 but suptorted, sounds like fraxured French = Kriyòl = Creole as scheduled, toward S America, not Haïti
15230, May 20 at 2311, RHC averages S9 but JBM, should be Brazuguese? No, Spanish, after 22-23 Portuguese, per EiBi
11880, May 21 at 0046, still on with dead air at S9+20. Supposed to last 22-24 UT only, but previously ran way late into the night. Somethings` always wrong at Radio Propaganda Cuba. The other side:
Something’s rotten in Cuba … and it heralds more hunger While the Government spends $1.5 billion building hotels, it slashes food imports and investment in agriculture. RAFAELA CRUZ La Habana 17 Mayo 2022 – 19:42 CEST diariodecuba.com/economia/1652809324_39564.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MALTA. 18125 USB, May 20 at 2305, 9H5BZ contacting 6Y5TL Jamaica, also audible weaker, and then beaming east to CQDX Australia/NZ.
9H5BZ Malta flag Malta Dione Caruana `Maria` 6, Church Street, Zebbug, Gozo ZBB1202 Malta
“If I am calling CQDX – and I frequently am as I am a DX Chaser – for me, DX means a country at least 3000 km away. So do NOT call me if you are nearer than that. If I am calling CQ (country or continent) then I am only interested in contacts from that country or continent and will NOT reply to anybody else.
My name is Dione. I live in the Island of Gozo in an old village of Zebbug. I am a senior nurse and work in the Emergency Department in one of our Local General Hospital. I am married to Ben and have 2 lovely daughters.“
Lots of illustrations, background info about Gozo on qrz.com page. www.qrz.com/db/9H5BZ Sounds and looks like a male person. At first I thought he was saying 9A5BZ until foneticized. I started with 10, 12, “15“ m without hearing any activity, very little on “17“ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 7260, May 21 at 0057, dead air at S8/9+10 or just barely modulated; 0100 5+1 timesignal cuts thru, the last pip same pitch but prolonged; still JBM at 0133. EiBi shows this has to be VOT Spanish to S America at 0100-0200. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO “monitoring and confirming the latest for #2138, Go, Oilers Go, WRMI: 9395, 9455, QSB fading, 9395, static QRN, QSB fading, 0058, May 17 UT [Tue] 5850, the number was lost, late ending, 1059, May 18 UT [Wed] 9455, 9395, S7 signal, QSB fading, 9395, heard Standard saying twice, 0059, May 19 UT [Thu] 9395, static, QRN, QSB fading, 0141, 0143, 0158 (45343), 0159, May 19 UT [Thu] Good listening, Richard Lemke, AB, May 19, 2022“
WORLD OF RADIO 2139 monitoring: confirmed new second airing, UT Friday May 20 at 0330 on WRMI 7780; at 0348 check, S7/S9 noisy into Durango, Dgo. SDR and S9/+5 noisy into TWR Brownsville RGV TX SDR, also noisy. It`s a shame that the 285 degree WNW antenna which should have been used for this is no longer funxional, so a 222 aimed toward Central America instead, i.e. SW. There are no Kiwis in that direxion, the closest being the two above. 5985 during its 5 hours per week at 0400-0500 is also 222 and also VP here to the NW.
Also confirmed Friday May 20 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S6/S8 direct and no jamming audible; following Tourette`s erupter Terry Blalock finishing by 1429 for a bit of a Spanish song buffer.
Checked IRRS just in case third Fri May 20 on 7290 via Bulgaria into UTwente; tuned to 7290 LSB to avoid warble, a brief tone/het came and went at 1758:35. IRRS as always cut on about 1800:55, JIP rock music from monthly preëmptor Radio City which IDs at 1809 and also on AM Italia, 1323 and 918 kHz, but not LW 207. So no WOR at 1815 this week
WOR 2139 confirmed Friday May 20 at 2053 the 2030 on AM Italia, 1323 kHz at S9+3 with lite SAH QRM; slightly better on clear 918, S9+5, no 207.
Also confirmed UT Saturday May 21 at 0133 the 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9/+20 direct. Next:

** VANUATU. 11835, May 20 at 0632 check, R. Vanuatu is gone again after one night back May 19 on 3 x 3945. Maybe to do with a threatening tropical cyclone Gina as Ron Howard also points out, not to be found on any other known frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
